Help Budgeting

I have been on the lookout for new budgeting software, I had been using MVelopes but recently it stopped working for us in the way we really need it. I may end up going back to the old tried and true excel method, but we will see. It is really stressing me out, I have been playing with Microsoft Money and Quicken, but neither really do what I want. I need to figure something out soon though, with a baby on the way a budget is more important than ever!

What do you all use to manage your budgets, what do you recommend I try.

Comcast / Vonage Update

After a long process and determining that we just cant fix our reception issues with vonage, we even bought a new phone and a new wireless router, 80 dollars wasted! Anyway, we finally talked comcast into lowering our rates to convince us to switch from vonage to comcast voip. We were paying a total of about 170 a month for phone/tv/internet. Comcast was great, they agreed to lower our bill to 131 a month for all three, saving 39 dollars a month, not a huge amount but pretty good.

They will be out to install on Tuesday, and I’ll tell you now, If we have reception issues with comcast like we do with vonage, to the point of having to hang up, I am going to stage a sit in at comcast! LOL

10 million Americans

I read that 10 million Americans a year are victims of identity theft. Something lifelockprotects. Recently they held a campaign to increase awareness, traveling over 6,620 miles and stopping along the way with victims, speakers and such to teach. Pretty cool idea, it is something people need to be aware of, sadly. I for one don’t really need to worry about it, as it is the ONLY thing a person could possibly do to my wonderful credit is make it better. And I cant blame my rock bottom credit on a thief, just my own dumb decisions along the way. I also see they are hiring, so if your looking for a job head on over and see what you can get, I don’t see any at home jobs unfortunately but maybe you can find something.

A friend of a Friend

Recently a friends friend bought a house, a nice house. She is about our age and has been with her husband for years. It is kind of inspiring to see that someone close to our age is getting successful in this area. We have talked to a few mortgage lenders in the last year but have decided to wait a while before trying to buy a house, to get his credit fixed some and hopefully save up a decent down payment. Where we are now is good, it isn’t like the last place (a tailor park) that we are miserable in, while I would like something bigger and without wheels, everyone has to start somewhere right?

Trouble with Comcast and Vonage

We have been with Comcast for years now, dealing with random shut off’s, bad connection at times, and horrible customer service, paying an outrageous amount monthly, 133.00 for internet and TV. We also have Vonage for 29 a month. All the while new customers are getting the triple play for 99.00 a month, for phone, TV, and Internet. Of late we have had problems with vonage cutting in and out, at this point it is impossible to carry on a conversation. Comcast blames vonage, vonage blames comcast, back and forth, no fix, how fun huh?!?!?

Soooo, I emailed Comcast, and offered them a deal, I would cancel Vonage if they would extend the new prices to us. So instead of paying the two companies a total of 163 a month we would be paying one company just over 100 with taxes and other random fees. I would call them but our phone is useless (we even went out and bought a new phone to see if that was the problem (out $40 on that one!) Anyway, according to the site, I should hear back in about 24 hours, probably more like monday or Tuesday though.

If the email does not work I will try calling from somewhere else, and if that fails I will personally go up there. If I still get no help, we will be shopping for other options for phone, internet and TV. Fun Fun….
