Have any of you signed up for directbuy? I see the commercials on tv late at night and have always wondered if it is a good deal. That and the SMC commercials! (I love infomercials!) By the way, I just bought the pedi-egg, the cheese grater thing shaped like an agg for your feet- it works amazingly. You should see my hubby’s before and after (my darned camera is still in Ocala, they are suppose to mail it back ASAP!)

Back on topic- any one have experience with direct buy or SMC? I would love to hear your thoughts on those two!

One big society underbelly is the debate of staying home with your children or working outside the home. A big source of contention over the last decade it will never truly be solved.

Basically, both jobs are tough both physically and emotionally. On the one had you are working outside the home and helping with income for the family, while having your children in day care, school or with a nanny, on the other hand however, you are not contributing to the finances, you are not getting as much social interaction and your responsibilities are tough. Either way, you have a demanding lifestyle.

For a woman that returns to the workforce, she keeps her feet in the door professionally, but as a general rule she can make up to 20% less than her sisters who are not mothers. However for a mom at home there is no salary, pension, recognition for the most part, no benefits, or social interaction that a job provides. It does not matter here if you stay at home full time or work full time along with raising kids in the evening, a good portion of your work and features will go uncompensated and under appreciated.

I came across the Salary.com “Mom’s Salary Wizard” a very cheesy yet nice tool to create a ‘mommy paycheck’. What they do is see all of the ‘jobs’ a stay at home mother has to do and assign hours per week to each chore based on national standards.

For me, with no children, but a stay at home housewife, I would have made $302,234 this year! Pretty nice, if only it were true. While I do not make nearly that much, working from home is going to help us when we do decide to have a baby, as I will be able to stay at home with them and not worry about income or other changes.

Something I am looking into is the new Pay Per Play Ads you put on your website. You just add a line of code and every time a visitor comes a snippet of audio is played. I am still debating on using it here, I may do a trial run for a week once it officially starts and see what everyone thinks. I like the idea that the visitor does not have to click anything for you to get paid, but I am nervous about the intrusion of sound when your not expecting it.
