Working from home

Always looking for more ways to work from home to help hubby out, I do some paid blogging here, and any small business opportunity that comes across my desk does not get overlooked. For the most part we are doing good, the little money I bring in combined with the money Joseph makes is always enough to pay the bills and keep a little left over for savings. But I would like to see more, to have enought to both save and have a little fun, right now it is one or the other every week.

Freelancing and Designing

Been working some on the side on a few websites and other freelance work, the next project will be to help my hubby design business cards for work, theirs are so lame. I am liking the options at VistaPrint and trying to save them money, they are so cheap! I recently did the website for them, although I hate it, the boss loves it and that’s what counts I guess, but the site will not be going in my portfolio anytime soon! :-)

They need both new business cards and brochures for some conference they are going to next month, I am hoping I will get more free range design input on those than the website, with the website it was the boss knowing what he wanted and where, no leeway at all. And no, I won’t link it here, it really is terrible, and I would hate for the boss man to see a link here and read this post… that would be a bit embarrassing, admitting I hate the website ‘I’ designed! LOL

I have always wanted to get business cards for me, with my blog URL, email and ‘mommy blogger’ on them, something cute, but it would be a waste of time and money, where would they go?!? I never leave the house and I have like 4 friends and they already know the address!

Practicing Futures

If you look at this futures broker site you will see a practice account option, I would love to try this before I do it for real. My hubby really wants to invest one day, but I want us to do it right, I might even set him up with a practice account first and let him play around and learn it some to make a decision if he want to do it or not.

Have any of you done any futures trading?

Help for your Home Business

A lot of us like to start home businesses with a product of our own. Be it a self published book, a cleaning supply product, or anything else, when your business takes off it can get very scary. Suddenly the living room isn’t big enough for all the product and maybe you dont have enough time in the day to both pack, ship and mail all orders. Let alone time to make more for sales.

Fear no more, this company does warehousing, fulfillment, and even allow you to start shipping overseas, a great feature to have to expand your business. By using a company like this all you have to focus on anymore is marketing and product production. Depending on the size of your business they charge anything from no monthly fee to a $99 dollar monthly fee. They determine the shipping and handling fees based on your product and needs, usually $1-$5 per package.

I would love at some point to come up with a product I could make and sell from home, my eventual goal is to have at least 3 home businesses, one being blogging, the other two are in development and brainstorming! :-) Possibly writing, but I don’t know yet.

Commercials for Direct Buy

Have any of you signed up for directbuy? I see the commercials on tv late at night and have always wondered if it is a good deal. That and the SMC commercials! (I love infomercials!) By the way, I just bought the pedi-egg, the cheese grater thing shaped like an agg for your feet- it works amazingly. You should see my hubby’s before and after (my darned camera is still in Ocala, they are suppose to mail it back ASAP!)

Back on topic- any one have experience with direct buy or SMC? I would love to hear your thoughts on those two!
