Thursday 13 - edition 2

thursday 13 I am actually remembering to do it this week! I haven’t been doing it weekly, the Thursdays just fly by! So this week I will do 13 confessions….

  1. I have a hard time expressing my emotions to family, I end up acting like nothing is ever going on just to avoid an emotional moment. Even when the emotion would be a good one…
  2. I am my mothers daughter! Everyday I find myself thinking or saying something that she used to say all the time… not always a bad thing, but my smart arse mouth gets me in trouble LOL
  3. I smoke way too much now that I work at home, I really need to cut back!
  4. I am horrible about getting things done on time, from memes, to sending letters, bills, library books, everything, i just cant do it on time!
  5. I am planning on making a second blog, about working at home and small business management…I will do it eventually LOL
  6. I have a hard time coming up with 13 things to say…
  7. Continue reading

One lonley fly….

flyI had the windows open yesterday and one little fly got in, now it is his dying wish to annoy me! I cant kill it, I have never been good at killing them, too slow lol! But this thing is flying around my face and hands while I try to work and it is DRIVING ME INSANE! I probably look like a crazy person swatting every few secs, but I am here alone so who cares!

And I am about to delete my carnival from Blogcarnival.com, as I keep getting submissions that are not even close to relevant. I am hosting another one this week, same theme - housewife confessions. I will write up an invite post tonight to get it started, please submit your posts by tomorrow evening.

EDIT– I killed it…. ;_(

Forum Etiquette

Man, I spend way too much time on forums, between the PayPerPost one, the WAHM one and a few others I have learned alot. But the main thing I want to tell you today is what NOT to do……

  • Do not start a new topic without first AT least scanning the threads already there for your answer, or even better, do a search in the forum. People may come out and say anything if you dont do this, but believe me, we get mad!
  • Do not spam… ok, those that do spam wont care anyway, but if you do want to go add you link to every thread, DONT!
  • Do not have a signature that is longer than normal, big images, lots of links, etc, it’s annoying and not needed, a few simple lines or sites and a small image is fine.
  • Do not double post, If you ask a question in one area, dont go to another area to ask the same question, thinking you will get a quicker answer, pick your spot and stick to it.
  • And the most important one— READ the threads, check before you post if someone else if having the same problem (all goes back to number one!)
  • Also, try to have your subject be specific as possible… just saying HELP will not get what you want… saying the full problem in a short sentence goes over much better - i.e. - My blog header has dissapeared! will get a much better response than just HELP!

I am sure there are alot more, feel free to comment and add your own annoyances at the boards, as great as the PPP boards are, they need some cleaning up lately! LOL But really, if you haven’t checked out the boards yet, definitely do, just follow the rules and you will be loved! They are a great place to get blogging advise, support, and friends. I have met a bunch of great people on there!

    My toilet is soooo clean!

LOL, now thats a title huh? I just cleaned my bathroom, top to bottom, after reading Speed Cleaning 101 by the healthy housekeeper, all I needed was a little ’self help book’ to get off my butt! Anyway, it is soooo pretty, but I spilled bleach all over the floor and I now have a bit of a headache but feel pretty good LOL(fumes!).

I know having a clean bathroom isn’t a big deal, but as I said a while back I haven’t had much energy to do ‘deep cleaning’ only the quick stuff, so being able to tackle the bathroom top to bottom was a real accomplishment! I figure I will do a room a day, top to bottom, organize and dust EVERYTHING, that way, by the time the wedding comes, if family comes it wont be an embarrassment! (I am even washing walls!)

The problem comes when i need to vacuum, ours died today, it is old and we have been replacing the belt once a month or so, and it finally officially died (AFTER i sprinkled the smell good carpet stuff all over the floor!) so now we have white powder everywhere and no vacuum to pick it up :-( We might be able to get one this weekend depending on the checks, but if nothing else there is one on the registry, so maybe we will get one as a wedding gift LOL.

Anyway, I just wanted to share my major accomplishment with you, as I am sure you are exited about a clean bathroom too! LOL

    RLS soap trick - works

I almost forgot! I have RLS (restless legs syndrome) it only flares up once a month or so thank goodness but when it does, i cant sleep, it is like my legs want to stretch, they ache, tingle, everything, and it gets worse at night, after alot of research I discovered it is RLS, fairly common and basically untreatable, although some recent commercials say they treat it. Anyway, I got it really bad last night, after taking some sleeping pills. I knew some medicines could bring it on, but now I know for sure that this drug in particular does– Diphenhydramine, it is in sleep meds like “nighttime sleep aid” as well as tylonal PM. Which really bites as I took the meds and was soooo drugged and tired, but I couldnt sleep, kept getting up, stretching my legs, everything.

soapThen I remembered a trick I read about a while back, putting a new bar of soap in your bed. There is nothing scientific about it, nothing about the soap chemicals, I think it all points back to one thing, it is in your head. But a while back I read on several sites that this worked, so I tried it then and it does work. So I tried it again last night and sure enough I was able to fall asleep. I just put it under my leg muscle where it provided pressure to my thigh. It feels amazing, it might not all be in your head thought, maybe it is the pressure on your muscle that relieves the pain, as I also read that support stockings help too (pressure again).

Regardless of the ’scientific’ facts, it works for me, now I remember last time I tried it that it only worked for a few nights in a row, then stopped, so as long as you only have the RLS for a couple nights it should help. Hopefully none of you have RLS, it is annoying! But if so, give soap a try and let me know what happens. (any kind of bar sop will work)
