Working…..

Well, so far so good. I finished the site I mentioned before, now we are just waiting to transfer all the files. So that will be done soon.

I got another customer yesterday, there is a scrapbook store here in town that needed a site, so I stopped by, talked to the owner, and worked up a spec. She loves it and asked me to come in tonight at 7 to finilize everything. This one will be paid, I am charging alot less than I should, as I am trying to get a portfolio up and going again. But every little bit helps.

Aside from working at West and the jewelry thing, thats all I have been doing. I havent started promoting the stuff a friend thing yet, but plan on doing that soon. I may make some sort of gateway page or something to add to the portfolio.

Jewelry

Got the jewelry kit from Shelley’s beads today, it is realy nice.  I am really glad I did that trade. She is loving her new site, she says she has gotten alot of new business because of it.

I just signed up to make 10 hand made christmas ornaments,  so hopefully I will be able to use some of these beads soon! I am finally getting to use some of the nicer beads when making things, that is really nice!

Also a new store opened up in town - A BEAD store! I was so exited until I saw thier prices– WOW, even with shipping it is cheaper online! Oh well!

Website Design

I got the reply back from the company that I offered to re-do the site for, it is a go! I have been working on it for a few days, off and on, almost finished. Thier old site is this one, and the new site, at its temporary location is this one.  I have had a blast doing it, I didnt realize how much I liked doing web design until I did it again, I think I will be on the look out for more sites that need a make over, to build my portofilio, and either barter for work or charge very little until I get some sites under my belt. What do you think?

I am not nearly as good as some of these 13 year olds out there now, but I am also not as cocky and am willing to work for a reasonable fee, they are charging houndreds for such little work. But by all means, if you can do it, go for it!

I guess the first step in accomplishing this is to finish this site, then maybe make a ‘mock-type’ site with the jewelry I make, to use a shopping cart, not really planning on selling online, the site will mainly be for me to play with and get back into the groove of using a shopping cart and such.

If you guys know anyone that needs a makeover, let me know, or send them my way, I am more than willing to work for it. Any extra money right now is a lifesaver, ya know? :-)

Weekends Over

Well the weekend is over, and the house is a absolute mess! As much as I want to sit on the PC all day, I really need to get up and clean.  I have made more jewelry over the weekend, as well as got a place to sell it, at a local hair cut shop, they already have some jewelry on display, just bracelets, and say the have been selling well.  So they said I could bring up my stuff. I just ordered some beads in the local school colors, and plan on making necklaces and bracelets for that, I think that will sell better than fancier things.

I also have been brainstorming ways to get more customers to the ’stuff a friend’ business, I plan on printing up flyers and such this week.

Well, I am off to go clean, I know one business I would never want to do is housecleaning!! Thanks for reading!

Stuff A Friend

After seeing alot of people doing this at several forums I am on, I decided to give it a try, it is free to join, you get a great personalized website, and the kits are really cheap if you wanted to buy some to show to people. I think this is a great time to do it, as christmas is coming up, I plan on buying some of the kits and selling with the jewelry at the fair in town. Cant beat free. :-) Heres the link if you are intrested, again, free, just promote your link and get people to buy the bears, they are adorable, my daughter loves these things, we got one up in Tenn. last summer.
